Mr. Redstone

Dear Parents,

This year will be an exciting year of academic growth for your child.  I have taught first grade for many years, and I really enjoy working with this age group.  Your child will learn many things, with a focus on reading and writing in all academic areas.  This year we will be working with Common Core Standards and developing critical thinking skills.  First grade is an important year in building a strong foundation for your child’s education.  This will require work on my part, your part, and your child’s part.  If we all work together I am sure that your child will have a happy and successful year!

To maintain a positive classroom, the responsibilities of each child are: 1) Respect yourself and your classmates, 2) Respect school property, 3) Respect all teachers and staff.  We want our classroom to be encouraging and conducive to learning at all times.  In this way, young people develop positive attitudes and behavioral skills that are so necessary for successful lives.

Home assignments are given daily (M-Th) and expected to be returned the next morning. Look for them in a folder, along with important notices and other information. Please read with your child every day, for it is the most important way to help your child at home.

It is a pleasure to have your child in my classroom.  I look forward to working with you.  You may reach me at redstoned@gfusd.net or 837-6040.

                                                              Sincerely,

                                                              Mr. Redstone
